Work Package 2: Europe in the World – Teaching & Knowledge Transfer

Work Package 2 focuses on innovative teaching and knowledge transfer, integrating students, academics, policymakers, and citizens to foster dynamic discussions on Europe’s global role.

Objectives:

  • Ensure the Six-Way Transfer: Engage in discussions and analyses of “Europe in the World” issues, conflicts, and questions between EU-based and non-EU-based scholars, students, and policy-makers, and across various disciplines (IR, Social and Political Theory, History, Postcolonial Studies, and European Studies).

  • Teaching Excellence: Provide excellent teaching, ensuring high-quality education and effective knowledge transfer.

  • Knowledge Transfer: Facilitate dynamic knowledge exchange between students, citizens, and invited speakers.

  • Engagement with Different Stakeholders: Foster discussions involving students, citizens, academics, policymakers, and politicians at EU and national levels.

  • Lecture Series: Organize a lecture series featuring diverse perspectives on European topics, enriching discussions on Europe’s role in the world.

Key Activities :

  • Lecture Series "Europe in the World" – A university-wide series featuring academics, policymakers, politicians, civil servants, and civil society representatives discussing various current and relevant topics related to the theme of “Europe in the World”, such as the EU’s values in a changing world, its geopolitical position, Common Foreign and Defence Policy, migration and immigration, climate change, development policy, democracy and legitimacy.

  • Model United Nations (MUN)/Model European Union (MEU) Preparatory Course – A two-semester course equipping students with skills in international diplomacy and negotiations, culminating in participation in a MUN and EU simulation.

  • Excursions to Brussels – Annual visits for students to engage with EU policymakers and institutions, gaining firsthand insights into EU decision-making and the workings of European governance.

  • Online Course on the EU – A university-wide course exploring the EU’s democratic structures, available via the Fulda learning platform.
